    • Honestly, I bought “Civil War” today at JB and I watched that twice, rather than sit through Hamish Blake’s shenanigans.

I think I made the right call.

  1. I agree Dave, The Bachelor is getting worse.
Ritchie is a very boring bogan and the production is clutching at straws. Why is it I don’t care who ends up with Ritchie and that most of these girls are as equally dull.
I think Rosie from mamma Mia is correct, I need to be drunk to watch this shite.

    • Maybe you shd tune into MAFS. I wasn’t going to bother but if you enjoyed Muriel’s Wedding or The Castle, you might like it. The same casting agency. Although the young NZ boy is like a sweet puppy. Not a super sharp breed but cute natured and probably easily house trained.

  2. I did end up catching the last few minutes, and I was shocked — nay, stunned — that he finally eliminated a blonde. I bet that hurt, Richie. But if he’d eliminated Rachel, I think the viewing audience (who are bored senseless by this drivel) would’ve rioted.

      • Or he genuinely can’t tell the difference between one gorgeous blonde in a cocktail outfit, and another gorgeous blonde in a cocktail outfit.

  3. I love the way Rachel laughs (not giggles) and sees humour in things. Faith seems a sweetie, but I don’t think she will get chosen. She looks like Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Richie doesn’t seem to have a strong favourite.

    • I know right? He doesn’t seem to have a connection with any of these girls beyond, “You’re gorgeous. Here’s my tongue”. I don’t think he’s got anything in common with any of them, I don’t think he has any shared interests with any of them, and he’s so dull that it’s hard to see any chemistry or sparks with anybody. Even with Alex. She’s going full-force to woo this guy, and it’s like he’s just sitting back, nodding at the right moments and periodically saying, “Let’s pash”.

I’d be interested in knowing whether he likes *any* of them.

      • Before airing of this season The Bachelor, so many people were swooning over Ritchie. Richie is a great choice, blah blah blah.

Now he makes Sam Wood stand out!

        • Sam was lucky in that, at least he had some interesting bachelorettes (and gosh, I was invested in his relationship with Heather. If I was into women, I would totally be in love with Heather, like, I’m not even joking). And the challenges and dates were interesting to watch (I loved him picking up Heather for their date, while driving an ice cream van. It was so hard to dislike him, you know).

  4. I’m not feeling it with any of these girls either. Olena would bore me. Faith is too sunny and bubbly (is that bad?), Alex seems like trouble, Rachel is going to be a bitch (the face doesn’t lie), and white haired girl is kind of myeh.
The one who had a combo of looks and personality walked.
Mind you, maybe in real life, they are all nicer and more interesting.

    • Olena is beautiful and smart (too smart for him, to be honest), but she seems to have a hint of high-maintenance (her disapproval of the outdoors, for one) which I think would be a turn-off because Richie seems like an outdoorsy bloke’s bloke.

I think Rachel’s too much of an alpha, take-no-crap kind of a personality, which I actually like about her (but Richie wouldn’t). She’s another one who I honestly think is better off without him.

Faith seems lovely, and she does seem to have a half-way connection with him, but I think she could do better.

And Alex is just too intense. I appreciate that it might be difficult to date and find love (when you have the background of the child and his father), but she seems to think she’s already won Richie (and every other episode is just a formality). She’s gone too hard, too fast, and at some points it’s like she’s looking at him like he’s a toy to play with, you know? She looks like she’s in lust with him, but not the other ‘l’ word, no.

I think Nikki’s the best bet, but even then, she hasn’t really stood out as anything more than yet another beautiful blonde girl (who should sue the wardrobe/costuming department for some of the gowns they’ve put her in).

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he picked nobody.

      • Everything you said.
        But one
He will pick someone because he’s a simple soul, and I doubt he understands that a choice to do nothing would be an acceptable choice in itself. The girls are not the only ones playing for a career after this is all over.

  5. I agree. This is so painful, and I have no-one to root for as I don’t know anyone beyond their hairstyles. Faith, unlikely. Nikki, meh. Rachel, too brunette, and chronic bitchmouth. I like Olena a lot, but can’t see her seriously involved with a dullard like Richie. Megan was the one I thought he’d choose in the end, and that leaves me vaguely hoping for Alex as the final choice. But hardly caring, and every other season with the (boring, I thought at the time) bachelors before him, I was passionately caring who the fellow chose. It’s just limping to a close, now Keira’s gone.

Surely they have some footage showing a tiny hint of someone’s personality they could have included at some point in the show? It’s just bland blonde, blank blonde, bubbly blonde, bashful blonde, blossoming bitchfaced bronde…

  6. Richie needs to make his mind up about Alex’s kid before home towns, he keeps spouting the same line about ‘something to think about…’ Don’t let her get to final two and then say sorry not my jam…

    • She would be better off without the red lippy accentuating her least attractive feature…perhaps the fault of make-up artists. I saw glimpses of ‘trouble-maker’ in Steph…
      “Who here don’t you like?”
“Do you think Richie wants to take on a kid”.
You know the honey trap. She doesn’t say it herself but invites you to say something that will come back to bite you.

I think Faith is probably the sweetest, nicest of them…if you could stand all that sunshine and lollipops. She has a very sunny disposition.

I don’t know if Olena is smart or just wooden.

    • An interview with Steph about Olena

Interview With Steph Dixon From The Bachelor Australia 2016

PS: Who would you say you were closest to in the house?

Steph: Olena, definitely. Hands down. Her and I were like two peas in a pod. I love her. I think I love her more than everyone else.

PS: What’s she really like? We only get to see the TV version, but what’s real-life Olena like?

Steph: Yeah! Look, the TV version is definitely her, but Olena is definitely a lot more outspoken and a lot more wild than she is on television.

      PS: Really?

Steph: Oh, yeah! She’s definitely not boring, I can tell you that.

For some reasons instead of showing the personalities of the girls the producers want to manipulate the editing to give us a false insight into the girls.

      • Thanks Littlepetal. Yeah, I guess if you’re not good at “opening up” in front of a camera, you will seem dull. I am enjoying Rachel’s devillish side.

  7. Truth is ,ol’ Bachie only wants to see one part of Olena “open up”.

She crawled through the mud faster than her other rival for Richie plus she seems well educated ….at least compared to Richie. Seems more well read than Bachie. He’d be stuck with reading/ watching porn out on the oil rig. Are there gels on oil rigs?

Reading the comments has been fun. I can’t believe Bachie has kept that apprentice crone Rachel. Broncos v Roosters was a good game, actually.

    • “Are there gels on oil rigs?”

I suppose it depends on who gets the short straw.

Oil rigs can be lonely, lonely places…

      • That’s hilarious because only this afternoon a female friend was telling me a few things about what married guys on oil rigs might get up to that I hadn’t thought of. I guess what happens on the oil rig stays on the oil rig. Is Richie a rope technician who gets from bunk to bunk like that?

        • Ah, the topic of sexuality in same-sex environments. Entire essays have been written about this, but it’s a tricky thing.

I’d believe that sexual encounters (whether invited or not) might be reasonably common in prisons, but in other environments? I hear stories about what happens after lights-out in boarding schools (as a for instance), and I have friends who like to think that whenever men are trapped in environments without female partners, that it’s on like Donkey King between them all. Honestly, it all sounds like bullshit to me. Guys have natural sexual-frustration-relieving devices inbuilt, they’re called Leftie and Rightie (that don’t cause a bout of bisexuality or infidelity).

Which would mean that Richie doesn’t go bunk-surfing, he’s just a wanker. Heh.

And if he ever did, let’s be honest … Richie would be the little spoon. Not the big spoon. I think that’s a safe bet.

    • I don’t think we will. After all, Snez was the single-mother-dating cast member for last season, and she went on to win the darn thing.

If there any discrimination this season, it was all the brunettes being booted out of the house as soon as possible.

    • If Alex gets a homwtown visit and Ritchie gets to meet her son and she is not the chosen one, I can see the SM having a go at Ritchie for leading her on and it is no fair for her son to be incolved.

  8. Are the girls all boring or are the editors doing them a disservice? At least last year we had a fairly good idea of what Heather was like in her everyday life. I would like to find out what interests the girls have another than wanting to date any man Channel 10 thrusts upon them.

    • Many of the girls are busy showing off thier bodies on their own instagram. Even Megan is doing it. More like milking their 15 seconds of fame.

  9. Can anyone explain why there were 22 initial contenders for the Bachelor, and only 16 for the Bachelorette? I seem to recall it was the same last season – is it that they find it hard to cast the men for this show?? Georgia Love, why? also.

    • Only 13 contestants and 10 episodes for last season The Bachelorette. I guessed they want a shorter series, so less contestants

    • Georgia is a brunette. I’m still getting counselling for the shock and trauma from reading that a slim, dumb blonde wasn’t chosen.

    • I’m with you Tina2 -why? I really find it hard to care about a 20 something that thinks all her accomplishments are worthless unless she “has someone to come home to”.

  10. Beige Bachie meets the gels’ families this week. That’ll be like necking a box of Xanax for the poor families. I hope Richie doesn’t try to pash the mothers or we could see some biffo. Richie on a polygraph would be good…..he’d blow it to smithereens with his insincerities.

  11. Didn’t realise it finishes next week. No Idea is full of who wins, how Richie has second thoughts, bla bla. How he’s using the programme to find fame and to introduce a range of tradies’ workwear!! Trailer for home visits looks good – someone clearly wrong foots Richie!

  12. Hands up all those who couldn’t care about the outcome.
Shock upon shock, going on a reality TV show to find fame and push your product !!
At least last years Heather and Snezanna were good value and seemed genuine.
