General chat – May 27

Chat away folks. Talking TV is soon taking a little break to a place where there is no TV – shock, horror. (Thank god for iPads!)
I’ve set up various threads to post automatically and will check on things every few days.
We’re off to Fiji again, near where Survivor is filmed, so will report back with any Probst sightings.

  1. Enjoy your holiday in Fiji, Juz.

Shapelle Corby – what a circus! Who cares about this bogan family and her drug smuggling crime, it was still her boogie board , if you don’t want anyone to allegedly tamper with your bags , padlock all the zips (they are not expensive to buy!)
If the media didn’t salivate over these drug mules like rabid dogs we wouldn’t have to put up with all this nonsense. I’m sure you get more coverage if you are female, attractive and in your early twenties. Funny how we don’t get the sob stories of male drug runners. Doesn’t sell as many newspapers, sorry newsrags. Hate mainstream media. Might unplug the TV!

  2. Ars we paying for all these security? I am sure Shapelle’s family will bleed the media for pictures and story on Schapelle. This is just sickening when people make money from crime.

  3. Oh Juz, have a beautiful relaxing time. 😊😊😊😊🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

Lola, pretty sure Shapelle will try and stretch the infamy and make some money. There is real cash in degrading yourself for 15 more minutes. 60 minutes, Current Affair or perhaps a stint as …..the next Bachelorettte.
Or First dates. I wld watch that. He: do you like to travel? She: only if you carry my boogie bag.

    • The Chaser~ a new program with the Corbys being pursued by the media.

Hot $eat~ first hand accounts of those who sat near $chappelle on the masterminded plane switch.

Neighbours~ what really happens in a Corby street. Will the curtains move ?

Deal Or No Deal ~ Stars $chappelle in her journey to make cash from crime.

Ma$kerchef~ guess which Corby cooked which dish in a contest for immunity.

      • πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Woolif is in bed: “What are you laughing at in there?”

    • You hit the nail on the head there, though, Daisy.

If Shapelle is the next host of “Getaway” or something? That would be AMAZING.

      • “Getaway” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Absolutely.
You guys are killing me. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  5. All in the Family

    The Corby Bunch

    – episodes of the Corby family.
Episode One – the whole family gathers around the Weber and toast to Shapelle with Aunty Jen’s $600 bottle of Grey Goose vodka and sing along to “Crime really pays” as they plot and scheme how to wring the most dollars out of the morally bankrupt press.
Wardrobe notes: scary masks and hoodies

  6. Thanks, folks. Shoot me an email if you see weird spam or anything pop up as I won’t be reading everything every day.

  7. Just wondering what you all think about Casey Donovan’s Coles ad. From what I’ve seen she has copped a bit of flack over it – accusations of selling out etc and claims that she won’t be taken seriously.

I have to admit that it makes me happy. Every time I see it I can’t help but smile and feel good.

    • I’ll weigh in with an I don’t care. Sometimes it just comes down to bread and butter. If doing a silly ad paid the rent, why not. If you have a booming career, you might be able to be all arty and turn your nose up at jobs that are beneath your artistry. Casey is probably just happy to pay the rent and buy a new car…and maybe she got a year’s supply of groceries. We should all be so lucky…although I hate Coles so I would have to set aside my convictions. 😜

    • I agree with Daisy re she can do what she needs to do, but it certainly doesn’t showcase her talents well, and personally I find the music on that ad irritating.

    • I am team Casey – she said on Celebrity get me out of here she didn’t have much cash, so good luck to her. I’d rather she did something that was more suited to her humour and astonishing voice, but I’m a fan whichever way she has to play it to get the bills paid.

  8. Lola, Windsong, Dave. You are all in good form tonight. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
    Seven year Stitch Up. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  9. $chappelle lost just 4 kilos and became The Biggest Loser.

Maybe the struggling Ten network could sign her up for a remake of Prisoner.

Schappelle thought she’d be driving around in a Mercedes, not being driven around by a Mercedes.

Now we’ll see a new kind of Family Feud in the grab for cash..

    • A comment from FB that I loved.

“Dear Australian media … STOP MAKING STUPID PEOPLE FAMOUS.”

  10. Have a great holiday Juz and fam πŸ™‚
The media wouldn’t be so intent on following Schapelle and the rest of the Corbys, if they weren’t so insistent on not being seen.
And carrying on with masks and decoys and all the rest just makes the media want more…

  11. I just heard on “The Daily Edition” that Schappelle might be in talks to appear on “I’m a Celebrity Get me out of Here”! Now that would be interesting.

  12. Happy holidays Juz and family.
This country better not turn Schapelle into any sort of hero now. I for one won’t be watching any ‘exclusive’ interviews with her or her bogan family.
Who is sponsoring this hullabaloo, all this security and hotels? My guess 60 Minutes.

    • Yeah, I’m definitely with you on that one. I didn’t bother with any of the nonsense surrounding that girl in Colombia, and I sure as heck won’t be bothering with any of this either.

  13. Schapelle should have got out earlier. CH 10 would have got her to be The Bachelorette. Move over Sophie Monk!!

  14. Woh, Dr Phil gets brutal. Sure the guy was a controlling abuser, but I have to say it; Dr Phil is NOT a safe place to talk about hard things.
He gets the audience on his side when he wants a gang-up.

        • You’re very talented, daisy…..and you know I’m not a reality tv judge talking out of my ar$e. Lovely colours and detail on your carpet, wallpaper , rug and bed.

Forrester Creations could use someone like you. Pity we don’t see rooms like the second example on House Rules.

          • I dug deep and brought my A game, Dave. Also, I think I had that room in the 60s. Note the retro.

          • There may be others who try to write and illustrate children’s books but you are very talented. Your illustrations are impressive. It’s worth a try.

      • I second that. The drawings are absolutely adorable. Your travel book for France was really cute, I loved that idea. I can also totally see a children’s book made of those drawings. Plus I trust you can come up with a nice story. Base it on a girl with wonderfully curly hair who is starting to have adventures. πŸ˜›

        • Thanks Zhee. Actually for that, a freiend of mine wrote the story and adked me to illustrate which I did. I will show another page later. I also wrote and illustrated a kids story for an assignment when I was in uni. I think it’s not bad but I haven’t really tried getting them published.
I will get the journals printed for my kids. They are also useful when dementia kicks in. “What did you yesterday”. Hang on, I’ll check.

      • Have you ever seen any of Susan Branch’s work? Hopefully this image attached. I fell in love with her work through her book called “A Fine Romance” which is a type of travel diary of a trip to England. Daisy’s work reminds me of her.

  15. Saw “Wonder Woman”. It was long and I started falling asleep during parts of it. There has been a lot of hype about it so I went in with very high expectations and I really don’t think it was as good as the hype but it was OK. There were some funny parts, interesting action at times but also long drawn out scenes. I didn’t get the team chosen by Steve Trevor but I guess, for the most part, they were supposed to bring humor to the film. CGI ranged from good to poor. No one applauded at the end of the film.

      • I didn’t think it was bad just that my expectations were very high based on reviews I had read. It was way better than Batman vs Superman.

        • Yeps, they are praising the movie way too much. I guess it is faux-feminism. Because you cannot bash a movie starring a super heroine made by a woman. Especially after last year’s all female Ghostbusters.
It’s like Goopy Paltrow whining about the fact that people hate on her because she is attractive and succesful. She kind of doesn’t get the fact that they hate on her because she is talking a lot of bullshit (putting jade eggs into your vagina and steaming it, anyone?).
Anyway, I guess the movie might be a lot better than those Superman and Batman messes from the last few years. I think the actress looks the part, the trailers looked alright. I suppose it is an enjoyable movie and afterwards you might forget you actually saw it.

PS: The only movie I ever saw that got applause in the beginning and the end, was Star Wars 7. I could count Warcraft in, but that does not count as it was a company viewing and most of my co workers are Blizzard fanboys anyway.

          • Rogue One and Force Awakens both got applause. There was something else I saw that got applause, maybe it was Guardians of the Galaxy??
Ghostbusters was incredibly bad and it had nothing to do with the busters being females but it was just poorly written. There was a lot of potential but it was wasted. I liked Melissa McCarthy in Gilmore Girls but have not liked most of her movies. “Spy” might be the exception since I laughed several times during that one.

          • Actually I remember Ghostbusters getting a lot of flak because of the feminist touch… And there were some write ups how that destroyed the movie before it was even in the cinema.
I honestly lost a bit of interest in going to the cinema. Much nicer to buy it on DVD or BluRay and then watching it at home while nibbling home made chips and cuddling the cats. πŸ˜› Plus I just can stop the movie and go pee.

    • I actually saw “Wonder Woman” on Saturday and really loved it. I mean, it wasn’t perfect, but I found it a bloody entertaining film. I thought they got the characters right, and it was just such a great story. I really liked it.

And compared to DC’s last three movies, this one is ahead by a light year.

      • I might go see it. Or wait until it’s on Netflix. I loved Wnder Woman when I was a kid. Especially when there was kissing. Was that Wonder Woman I am remembering? Or True Confessions. They were good too. πŸ˜™πŸ˜™πŸ˜™πŸ˜™

  16. Our young uakea is flowering, and check out that winter sky. We had a very late start to summer and now we are having a late start to autumn and winter. 25Β° max today.

  17. Ahh, totally missed the new Arcade Fire song… Might not be everyone’s taste, but I LOVE their music. My Body is a Cage is still my favourite song though. In general Neon Bible is for me personally one of the best albums in the 2000s with a huge amount of outstanding songs. Their original version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhhZdune_5Q- and Peter Gabriel’s totally different arrangement of that same song which my father absolutely loves (he’s a big Genesis, Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins fan. He then loses it again with loving the German horror grandpa band Flippers and Celine Dion… -.-): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTZQ2IB_x7c.

If anyone is interested in Arcade Fire’s new music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC30BYR3CUk
