  1. Oh, boy. Perfect sushi requires good knife skills, among other talents. The contestants will try to imitate the chef, and there will be blue bandaids galore after the master class.

  2. Watched the two Japanese chefs, skipped George’s & Matt’s demos. All of the demos should have been by local chefs . They are in Japan. Take advantage of that and give them a full on Japanese cooking Masterclass by Japanese Master chefs.

  3. I enjoyed seeing the soba noodle chef and the sushi chef; their dexterity and finesse as they worked was engrossing.

Shame about how gauche most of the contestants and Gary were. They looked so uncomfortable as they bowed to the chefs, and mainly only looked at the interpreter even when the chef was talking. I’m pretty sure both of those chefs could understand English, and both looked at the person to whom they were speaking.

I had to roll my eyes when the boys hoed into George’s pretty little salad with forks. It was meant to be a Japanese salad (whether it was or not), and they could have used chopsticks instead of destroying the look of it right away.

Karlie thinks she knows how to make soba noodles now, after briefly observing a chef who said he is still learning after 30 years noodle-making.

The sushi chef’s talk about his gratitude to his suppliers and his efforts to bring joy to his customers as parts of his cooking was touching. I hope the contestants don’t decide to parrot that next week, since I think few of them have that feeling for preparing food.

There wasn’t much Japan in Japan Week and that was disappointing.

  4. Cant stand how Karlie every time pretend to be surprise that her dish ( not her) got tasted. Back yourself. If you know you cooked a good dish, your dish will be tasted

      • Why should she get the choice to use the pin half way through the challenge. Unfair. Ice Cream is not a reinvention.
